What Is My Future, My Choice?.
The My Future, My Choice program is a jointly funded program by the Commonwealth and State governments to address the untenable situation of young people with disability who are currently living in, or at risk of admission to residential aged care.
Yooralla has partnered with the Department of Human Services to develop four new services which provide unit style accommodation specially designed to cater for high daily support needs.
These services will enable young people to live in more age appropriate accommodation, in their local community and to pursue aspirations for their future.
Yooralla's Goals for these Services
- For each individual's quality of life to be improved.
- For each resident to feel safe, secure and have a sense of ownership over their space (to feel that their unit is their home).
- For smart house and assistive technology to maximise the extent which individuals can achieve safety, independence and control over their environment and to ensure the safety of staff, friends and family.
- For individuals to be involved in activities of their own choice in the community.
- For staff to support each resident to achieve their own aspirations.
